Day 1: Santa Cruz – Isabela
Upon arrival at Baltra Airport, you will go through the National Park control to pay the park entrance fee. After completing the respective procedures and collecting your luggage, a staff member will meet you at the airport exit. Together with the guide, you will board the "Lobito" bus to reach the Itabaca Channel. Here, a barge will take you to Santa Cruz Island, and then the assigned transport will take you towards...
Day 2: Wetlands - Tintoreras
In the morning, we will head to the Wetlands, some of the most ecologically vibrant landscapes in the world, situated at the fascinating boundary between land and sea. This tour takes you around the island for hiking or cycling through the wetlands. The tour lasts approximately three hours by bike or four hours walking, where you will see four types of wetlands and colorful native species, including pink flamingos. Later, we will visit Tintoreras Islet, named after the volcanic lava fissure that forms channels favored by Tintoreras sharks (an endemic species of the Galapagos Islands). In this area, you can see hundreds of sharks in the water, as well as iguanas and other birds and species of the island. Return to the hotel for dinner and accommodation.
Day 3: Isabela – Santa Cruz, Charles Darwin Station
Transfer to the dock for the trip to Santa Cruz. Check-in at the hotel, and in the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. This is an opportunity to learn about Galapagos conservation in action. The station's work is vital to protect the pristine habitat of the Galapagos National Park. You can observe giant tortoises endemic to the islands, land iguanas, finches, and more on the trails, as well as visit the Van Straelen Interpretation Center to learn about Galapagos sharks, mangroves, ocean currents, and invasive marine species. Accommodation.
Day 4: Santa Cruz – Tortuga Bay – Highlands – Los Gemelos
At the designated time, we will depart for Tortuga Bay Beach. The transport will leave you at the start of the trail leading to the beach. The trail is paved, and the walk offers opportunities to spot local wildlife such as lava lizards, finches, and cacti. Tortuga Bay is a nesting area for turtles and marine iguanas, featuring a paradisiacal white-sand beach surrounded by mangroves. It’s a natural beach, so we recommend bringing essentials like a swimsuit, garbage bag, water, and snacks if desired. After walking through Playa Brava, we will reach Playa Mansa, where you can enjoy the sun and swim in its crystal-clear waters. Kayak rentals (not included) are available for those interested in the activity.
After beach time, we will return along the trail to the transport and head back to the hotel. Lunch. At the agreed time, the guide will take you to the Highlands of Santa Cruz. Here, we will visit three iconic locations: Rancho Primicias, Lava Tunnels, and Los Gemelos. At Rancho Primicias, you can observe tortoises in their natural habitat. The lava tunnels offer a unique experience with large arches formed by lava flows. Lastly, we’ll stop at Los Gemelos, two sinkholes formed by volcanic activity over the years, surrounded by escalesia trees, moss, and orchids. Return to the hotel and accommodation in Santa Cruz.
